'One Book, One Hudson' meets for book discussion
      Hudson - More than 20 people gathered at the Senior Center July 12 to discuss Terry Ryan's book "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mother Raised Ten Children on Twenty-Five Words or Less." The book is a true story about Terry's mother, Evelyn Ryan, who raised 10 children in the 1950s and 1960s on the money she won from poetry, jingles and advertisement contests.

Community gathers for concert at Wood Park
     Hudson - Dave and Alex Andrews get into the swing of things at the Wood Park concert. The music ranged from classical to jazz, and included songs from Broadway.

Free English classes to be offered
      Hudson - The Hudson Maynard Adult Learning Center off ers free English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes in Hudson. The center offers four levels from beginning to advanced. Classes start in September and end in June.

Center holds free GED preparation
      Hudson - The Hudson Maynard Adult Learning Center offers a free GED preparation program in Hudson, with three levels of classes leading to a high school equivalency certificate: Basic Skills, pre-GED and GED. Students are placed in an individualized program of instruction and work at their own pace. Instruction is provided by qualified teachers.

Fame rehearses at Hudson High
      Hudson - Phillip McCready (front, playing Schlomo) and Lauren Baily rehearse their roles at the July 11 rehearsal for the upcoming River's Edge Players' presentation of "Fame." This is the fourth year for this theater group and its second musical.
