Friday night's for winning
      Region - It's been many seasons since we had a local Friday football night as we did last week (Sept. 14). It doesn't get much better for area football fans as teams posted 5-0 marks putting some programs into rarified air. With wins by Hudson Catholic and St. John's in Saturday games, only a controversial loss by Westborough marred a perfect slate.

      Region - The Shrewsbury Youth Hockey Association will be holding Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey clinics beginning next month. Registration for the clinics will be held Saturday Oct. 6 from 8 to 10 a.m., and Tuesday Oct. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Buff one Rink, located on Lake Avenue in Worcester.

St. John's Pioneer golfers should contend
      Shrewsbury - The years, and some of the names, have changed, but everything else has pretty much stayed the same for the St. John's High School golf team. The Pioneers, the two-time defending Central Mass. and state champion in Division 1, entered play this week 4-0, having already racked up wins over Doherty, St. Peter-Marian, Burncoat and Xaverian.

Co-coaches leading Green Wave kickers
      Hudson - After a season of transition saw the Hudson Catholic (HC) girls soccer team fall from the highs of an undefeated regular season in 2005 to an 8-8 season last year, which barely qualified it for postseason play, the Green Wave hopes to return to its previous form on the soccer pitch.
