Algonquin Regional High's AP scores improving
      Northborough/Southborough - More Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) students are taking advanced placement (AP) courses as well as the accompanying AP exams - and showing improvement. That announcement was made by ARHS Assistant Principal John Harrington, who made a presentation about the AP program to the Regional School Committee at its Oct. 17 meeting.

School holding raffles through November
     Shrewsbury - Oak Middle School students (l to r) Shannon McGrail, Cali Manzello and Devyn Ludovico gather Oct. 17 to help prepare envelopes for the school's calendar raffle fund-raiser. The raffle runs through the month of November with drawings every day for a variety of prizes including health club memberships, tickets to Sharks and Celtics games, travel accommodations, dining, entertainment and tickets to a Hannah Montana concert.

Guidance Department overextended in Shrewsbury
      Shrewsbury - Guidance counselors at Shrewsbury High School have as many as 332 students each, as compared to the national recommendation of 200 students per counselor. In a presentation before the School Committee Oct. 17, High School Principal Brian Reagan said the Guidance Department has really felt the strain of budget cuts over the past few years.

      Shrewsbury - Students from Pam LeBlanc's ceramic art class helped the Little Colonials create their own Halloween ornaments Oct. 18.
