Scouting for Food drive underway

Boys Scouts in Marlborough and Hudson have teamed up with schools, Girl Scouts and other community service organizations to attach a shopping bag to each doorknob of all homes in the community. The scouts will then return Saturday Nov. 10 to pick up the bags, which they are asking residents to fill with nonperishable items. All of the items will go to the local Food Pantry.
Joan Wardell, a parent volunteer, explained that the state of the economy has put added stress on organizations like the Food Pantry, and that last year's drive collected 72,000 pounds of food.
She said that the food drive is happening just in time because the shelves at the Food Pantry are nearly empty.
