After 23 years, resident continues clearing hydrant
      Shrewsbury - Bob MacAllister of Shrewsbury shovels snow away from a fire hydrant near his home Dec. 16. He has been removing the snow around this hydrant, which is about four houses away from his home, for the last 23 years. After snowplows cleared the road, there were two to three feet of snow packed around the hydrant.

Spring Street School practices emergency preparedness
      Shrewsbury - Spring Street Elementary School Principal Greg Palmer said he couldn't be happier with the staff and students' response to a lockdown drill the school held this month. The drill, which was held Dec. 12, gave teachers a chance to practice the school's lockdown procedure that would be implemented in the case of an actual emergency.

Santa Claus comes to town
      Shrewsbury - Santa Claus brings cheer to the children of the officers of the Shrewsbury Police Department Dec. 2. With Santa (aka Officer Mike McGuinnis) are Officer Michael O'Connor's children, Michaela, Morgan and Madison. The gathering was held at the American Legion on South Quinsigamond.
