Barbara F. Myrick, 85 Marlborough - Barbara F. (Hastings) Myrick, 85, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after a lengthy illness. She leaves her husband of 48 years, Thomas Myrick, and nieces and nephews. Born in Clinton, the daughter of John and Catherine (O'Toole) Hastings, she had lived in Marlborough for over 48 years. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1940 and from Salem State Teachers College in 1944, receiving her master's degree in Education from Worcester State College in 1960. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and reached the rank of first lieutenant. Mrs. Myrick taught business courses at Framingham North High School for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. Previously, she taught at Hudson High School and Wachusett Regional High School. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Retired State Workers and Municipal Employees Association. She was also a member of the Marlborough American Legion. Mrs. Myrick was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and afghans. She and her husband wintered in Lake Worth, Fla., for the past 15 years. Funeral services were held June 22 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery.
