Portuguese president makes an impression

Hudson - Some 600 attendees turned out to the popular Hudson Portuguese Club last week to listen to a presentation by the President of Portugal, Anibal Cavaco Silva. Under tight security, the charismatic president spoke of the courage exhibited by those who relocated to Hudson to start new lives and of the positive relations between his country and the United States.

The stop in Hudson was part of a whirlwind two-day tour during which Silva visited with dignitaries, including Gov. Deval Patrick, and traveled to several other communities with large Portuguese populations.
