Hudson - Judd Cohen, the owner of Cleaning Solutions at 28 Main St. in Hudson, is serious about cleaning. Cohen's business provides the product, equipment and service needs of both commercial cleaning companies and residential homes. He has been helping Hudson residents and businesses keep clean for the past five years.

As a commercial distributor, Cohen has established a large customer base of businesses and cleaning companies that he supplies with products. For cleaning products, he carries a full line of inventory in industrial-sized concentrate for all needs, including all-purpose, heavy duty and hardwood floor cleaners. He also offers a large range of equipment, from industrial floor washers to window cleaners.

Cohen has been expanding his vacuum cleaner line to better accommodate his residential customers. He now carries a full range of both Miele and Sebo vacuums. Both are high-end vacuum cleaners that are extremely popular with the average residential customer as well as the commercial cleaning companies.

Cohen explained that in the past he carried other brands of vacuums, but within six months the customers were back for repairs.

"These two companies [Miele and Sebo] stand behind their products," Cohen said. "The Sebo brand offers a five-year warranty on all of the vacuum cleaner parts."

The vacuum cleaners start at around $275, he said

"Right now most people purchase throw-away vacuum cleaners that last six months to two years at most," Cohen said. "Over a five-year period the customer ends up spending more money than if they bought a quality vacuum that will last 10 to 20 years."

Both Miele and Sebo are reliable and dependable vacuum cleaners, he said. They each offer various features, including hospitalgrade anti-allergen filtration systems and all-around airflow that creates a strong suction.

"I don't have to sell these vacuums," Cohen said. "If you show people how they work, they sell themselves."

Cohen's goal is to discover what his customers' cleaning needs are and educate them on what products will best accomplish that.

"I like dealing with customers," he said.

Then he demonstrated the new microfiber mop with a Velcro mop head that can be washed.

"These are great for hardwood floors," he said.

For the environmentally and chemically conscious consumer, Cleaning Solutions offers a range of hydrogen-based products. Brands like Eco-gent, one of the most popular safe cleaners carrying the European flower seal, are priced competitively and readily available.

In addition to sales, Cleaning Solutions also services and repairs cleaning equipment in-house. The retail store also carries a full line of support cleaning items such as vacuum cleaner bags and filters.
