Gymnastics teams excel at Mass. State Cup

Shrewsbury - Gymnasts from the Gymnastic Learning Center in Shrewsbury recently competed in the Massachusetts State Cup at the Prep Optional Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and High School Levels. The Prep Optional Novice team finished fifth out of 30 teams in the state in the state.

The team includes: Shrewsbury residents (front, l to r) Brooke O'Neil (fourth on floor exercise), Lisa Liberty (first on floor exercise), Gabrielle Zona (eighth on floor exercise), Kayla Mattero (sixth on floor exercise); Tara Faford of Grafton (fourth on floor exercise); Megan Yuen of Shrewsbury (fifth on bars); Mary Elise Jacobs of Northborough (first on vault, first on bars and first in all-around scoring); (middle, l to r) Shrewsbury residents Liza Perreault (fifth on floor exercises), Danielle Kemp (second on vault and third in all-around scoring); Northborough's Jenny Welton (seventh on vault); Shrewsbury's Sasha Romanoff (ninth on vault), Elizabeth Ayuso (tenth on vault), Becca Bommarito, Emily Graves (first on floor and first in all-around scoring); (back, l to r) coach Beth Hurley; Worcester's Jana Dankova (eighth on bars); Brittany Chin of Shrewsbury (first on floor); Northborough's Riley Duggan (second on floor), Abby Campbell (first on bars); Shrewsbury's Jessica Mushinsky (first on beam); Millbury's Shanna Hudgin (second on floor), Laura Stapler of Shrewsbury (first on bars); and coach Kristi Stout.

The Prep Optional Novice team took first place in three out of five competitions, and the Prep Optional Intermediate team won all eight competitions it entered.
