Shrewsbury Garden Club to collect button-cell batteries

Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Garden Club has placed boxes where used button-cell batteries can be placed for recycling. Button-cell batteries are used in hearing aids, watches, cameras, digital organizers, calculators and some toys. The boxes will be located at the First Congregational Church, the library, Price Chopper, Sachs, the Senior Center, Shrewsbury Crossing, Stop and Shop, Walgreens and Westbrook Crossing.

The Town of Shrewsbury Health Department will pay the Garden Club $100 per pound for these batteries, up to $500 a year.
