Assabet Valley Chamber announces scholarship winners

Region - The Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Michael Burke and Corey Andrews of Hudson and Brett Elizabeth Murphy of Maynard have been chosen as the recipients of the Chamber's scholarships for 2007. Applicants are ranked equally on academics, attendance, community service, work experience, essay writing, reference letters and financial preparation.

This means, according to Chair Dave Rykbost of Dave's Landscape Management, scholarship recipients "are used to juggling many priorities, and will tend to be more successful in their chosen profession."

Burke is ranked 10th in his graduating class at Hudson High and plans to attend Harvard University in the fall. In addition to countless hours on the football field and track, Burke also served as Senior Class president this past year.

Andrews is ranked 20th in her graduating class at Hudson High. While an excellent academic, she is also active in drama and chorus. Additionally, Andrews runs varsity cross country and plays varsity softball too. She also volunteers for Special Olympics and peer tutoring. Andrews plans to enter a program in physical therapy at Sacred Heart University in the fall.

A scholarship also went to Brett Elizabeth Murphy from Maynard High School. Murphy plans to attend Brandeis University in the fall.
