Joseph A. Cofelice, 79 Marlborough - Joseph A. Cofelice, 79, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare after an illness. He was the husband of the late Xenia (Nicholoulias) Cofelice, who died in January 2007. He leaves his children, Joseph and Maureen Cofelice; Michael Cofelice, and Mary and John Grieco; his siblings, Andrew Cofelice Jr., Phyllis Jensen and Marie Moreau; and his grandchildren, Joseph, Claire, Anna and Sophia. Born in Marlborough, the son of Andrew and Rena (Depatie) Cofelice, he graduated from Marlborough High School in 1945 and was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Cofelice retired as a lieutenant on the City of Marlborough Fire Department in 1987 after 25 years. Previously, he owned and operated the city's first Laundry Mart on East Main Street from 1947-62. He was a member and former treasurer of Local 1714 of the I.A.F.F. and a member of the ITAM War Veterans Post 45 of Marlborough and the Marlborough Senior Center. During the late 1960s, he was a coach in the Little League. Funeral services were held June 30 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
