5k road race to benefit Special Olympics

Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Special Needs program is sponsoring a road race Saturday July 21 at 8:30 a.m. at the Floral Street School. All proceeds will go toward the Shrewsbury Special Olympics program. Pre-entry fee is $15 before July 15, $20 after. Applications are available at Town Hall, Parks and Recreation Office. Day-of-race registration opens at 7:30 a.m.

Race divisions include: Middle School, up to age 14; High School, ages 15 to 18; 19 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 and over; Special Needs athlete; and Special Olympics volunteers.

Timing and scoring will be provided by Central Mass. Striders. T-shirts will go to the first 100 registered 5k runners. Awards will go to for first-place finishers in all divisions. For more information, contact Race Director Peggy Holdash via e-mail at pholdash@yahoo. com.
