Hudson negotiates with new superintendent
By Angela Greiner Contributing Writer

Hudson - After several months of reviewing applicants, the town had narrowed down the superintendent of schools search to two candidates. The School Committee announced June 30 after an open School Committee meeting, that an offer has been extended to superintendent candidate Nina Schlikin.

Tom Green, a School Committee member, explained that after two extensive interviews with town faculty, students, residents and School Committee members, they liked both candidates, but thought that Schlikin would be the best fit for Hudson School District.

Schlikin recently resigned from a position in Maine where she managed School Union 29 that encompassed three towns: Polan, Mechanic Falls and Minot.

"The district she covered there was very similar in size to Hudson," Green said.

She also had a similar emphasis on the curriculum that has been implemented in Hudson, he explained.

"It should be a quicker adjustment," Green said.

Green was personally impressed with Schlikin because of the research she had done on the civic curriculum that Hudson has adopted. She came into the interview with a lot of information about the district and quite a few questions, according to Green.

The School Committee is currently negotiating a contract with Schlikin and members hope that she will be on board by early August.
