Family Outings: Harry Potter events

Region - There are many families out there eagerly awaiting the release of the newest and final Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," by J.K. Rowling. In celebration of the book's release many events will be held throughout the Metrowest area.

A local bookstore will be featuring a book release party Friday July 20, in anticipation of the midnight release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." Tatnuck Bookseller in Westborough will have a Harry Potter release party at 9 p.m.; it will include wizard classes and live owl demonstrations.

The Marlborough Public Library is having a full week of Harry Potter activities including a costume story time, Harry Potter movie marathon and a special celebration Friday July 20 with a potions class and Harry Potter trivia.

Zito from WXLO's morning show will be at the Paper Store in Hudson to celebrate the Magical Midnight Celebration Friday July 20 leading up to the sale of the book beginning at midnight. Festivities will begin at 7 p.m., including: book reading, fortune telling, costume contest and other mystical fun.

The Hopkinton Public Library will have a series of events Friday, July 20, starting with a presentation geared for the younger Harry Potter's fans, "Larry Potter and the Sorcerer's Poem" at 1 p.m. Children's librarian Denise Kofron will lead a book discussion at 3 p.m. for anyone who would like to discuss their predictions for the book. Then from 5 to 9 p.m., a Harry Potter Celebration will be held that will include games, crafts and refreshments. Children can enter their name in the "Goblet of Fire" for a chance to play "Who wants to be a Harry Potter Millionaire?" The library is also collecting new socks for "Dobby" to donate to needy families in the community.
