Grafton Common sidewalk sale Aug. 11

Merchants around the Grafton Common will hold a sidewalk sale Saturday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An opportunity to get summer merchandise at discounted prices and a look at new fall merchandise, the sale is also a great chance to get a head start on Christmas shopping. Before and after shopping, customers can enjoy lunch or refreshments at the eateries around and near the Common, including the Country Store, Café on the Common, the Grafton Inn, and the Branded Bear Deli. The following merchants will be participating in the sidewalk sale: the Tuscan Rose, Peggy's Place Boutique, the Country Store, Antiques on the Common, and Once Upon A Time (Children's Resale Boutique).

Big Brand Event starts Aug. 4

Children's Orchard has announced its Big Brand Event will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, with customers receiving a $10 store credit for every $35 they spend during the sale. Included in the event will be such well-known brands as Tommy Hilfiger, Baby LuLu, Polo, Oshkosh B'Gosh, Gap, Stride Rite and more. FLIC board members appointed

The Female Leadership Interest Council, Inc. (FLIC) has appointed new members to its advisory board. Appointees include Catherine Latham, Human Resources director at AstraZeneca; Jill Dagilis, executive director of the Worcester Community Action Council; Marita Zuraitis, president of the Hanover Insurance Group's property and casualty companies; and Carol Sexton, area vice president of Sovereign Bank in Westborough. Bay State All Star opens in Worcester

Karen Anastasi and Matt Holdridge, owners of Bay State All Star, Cheer & Dance, have announced their opening at 11 McKeon Rd. in Worcester. Ultra Shine Collision donates cart to MYBA
Math Smart, Educational Direction join forces

Math Smart and Educational Direction have joined forces to off er a series of special, limited-enrollment SAT Prep classes taught by a pair of educators with a combined 35 years of high school teaching experience. Their 8-session, 24-hour fall class will run several Thursday and Sunday late afternoons from Aug. 23 to Sept. 30 at Tatnuck Booksellers in Westborough. Math will be taught by Math Smart Director Mary Ellen Wolfe, while Verbal/Writing will be instructed by Don McMillan, who heads Educational Direction. Westborough students are eligible for a fall scholarship; other school regions will be eligible for winter and spring assistance. See ad in this week's classifieds section.
