Campanelli started playing the violin at the Joy of Music Program in Worcester at age 6 and moved on to study with Piotr Buczek. Since 2005, she has attended the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, where she studies with Janet Packer. Campanelli auditioned for and was admitted into the Longy Young Performers Certificate Program and this year she completed their Junior Certificate level. In December 2006, she won the Longy Junior Division Concerto Competition, performing St. Saens's Concerto No. 3. She is also a member of the Boston Youth Symphony. As the winner of the award, Campanelli was invited to perform for the Beethoven Circle at Worcester's Tatnuck Country Club, where she play Bruch, Bach, Wieniawski and St. Saens. Since 1977, Music Worcester has has held the competition for musicians who are 12 to 18 and residents of Worcester County. The competition seeks to encourage highly talented young artists and provide the winners with scholarship awards and performance opportunities. Each year about 20 talented young musicians compete at WPI's Alden Hall in anticipation of obtaining scholarship awards through the financial support of the Music Guild and three Sylvia Gafvert Stubblebine Scholarship Awards, made available through the Greater Worcester Community Foundation. The Sylvia Gafvert Stubblebine fund was established in 1989 by Joyce Gafvert Adderley and Judy Gafvert Richardson in memory of their aunt, to support classical music scholarships for students in the Worcester area. It is for students of any age who are studying instrumental classical music at an accredited college, university or music school or with a private teacher. |
