Southborough gymnast wins gold at state championship

Southborough - Chloe Herczeg, 12, of Southborough won two gold medals at the Level 9 Junior Olympic Massachusetts State Championship in Hudson earlier this year.

Competing in the youngest age division for Level 9, Herczeg beat out her competitors on floor exercise and beam just three weeks after dislocating her right kneecap. She also garnered a silver medal on the vault with a pike Yurchenko and a bronze medal on the uneven parallel bars.

Her combined score on all four events earned her the title of 2007 State Champion All-Around, Level 9 Children's Division Silver Medalist and one of only three slots in the child division of the Massachusetts Regional Team.

Last year Chloe won the Level 8 Massachusetts State All-Around Title. She followed up her performance at the State Championship with a bronze medal in the all-around and a silver medal on vault at her first regional competition.

Since she began competing at the age of 8, Chloe has won 15 state gold medals, including 5 all-around titles, and two regional medals.
