Golf Tournament in memory of St. John's student
By Ken Powers Contributing Writer

Shrewsbury - The inaugural Bryan T. Rossik Memorial Golf Tournament will be played Sunday Aug. 19 at Leicester Country Club. The proceeds of the tournament will be used to provide scholarships to St. John's High School seniors.

Bryan, 17, would have graduated from St. John's with the Class of 2007. In April, he was a passenger in a car with four other teenagers; the car swerved off the road and hit a tree. Only one student survived.

The tournament was an idea that came to Rossik's parents - Cheryl and Joseph Rossik - as family and friends asked how they could help.

"The support we've been getting since this happened has been unbelievable," Joseph said. "My wife and I came up with the idea of a golf tournament because we wanted to give people who want to a way to help."

In addition to two 18-hole rounds, there will be a raffle and dinner.

Joseph said he hopes the tournament will serve as a reminder of the strength and passion of his son.

"Bryan was full of life," his father said. "He lived every day to the fullest and was a kind and caring and loving young man."
