Reaching out to families of soldiers world-wide Marlborough - Although the National Day of Prayer is designated the first Thursday in May, an upcoming event is designating another day for prayer. "Cry Out for America" is an event that reaches out to families in the community to gather in fellowship and prayer, and addresses the importance of family and supporting families in the military. The gathering will be held Sunday Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Marlborough Fish and Game, and will include a barbecue picnic, gospel music and time for prayer. Craig Bellisario, the principal of New Covenant Christian School (NCCS) in Marlborough, and Pastor James Morrison of Greater Grace Christian Fellowship, also in Marlborough, will be the two guest speakers at Cry Out for America. "All throughout the history of our country, Americans have faced tremendous problems," Morrison said. "We are gathering to cry out to God for America because of the dangers we are facing right now. We have the daily threat of terrorism and our sons and daughters are in harm's way overseas. So we're dedicating a Sunday afternoon of prayer for our country." Bellisario will address the importance of family life and creating positive relationships within the community. "The family unit is the foundation for a strong America," Bellisario said. NCCS is a non-denominational Christian school for kindergarten through eighth grade that works with both family and church to nurture the growth and education of each child. The school is currently accepting registrations for the 2007-2008 school year. The cost to attend the event is $20 per family or $5 per person. |
