John C. Polymeros, 76 Marlborough - John C. Polymeros, 76, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007. He leaves his wife, Georgia Matthew Polymeros; his sons, James Polymeros and his wife, Eva, and Steven Polymeros; and his brothers, Francis Polymeros and Nicholas Polymeros. The mother of his two sons, Helen (Michalides) Polymeros, died in 1975. Born in Lamia, Greece, the son of Rev. Constantine and Theodora (Chaousis) Polymeros, he lived most of his life in Marlborough. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and Clark University, with honors and a degree in education and international relations. He also received his master's degree in education from Fitchburg State College and his certificate in advanced graduate studies from Boston College. Mr. Polymeros, who began his teaching career in the Athol public school system, was the principal of Bigelow School and the Kane School from 1969 - 1988. Previously, he was principal of the Prospect Elementary School in Gardner. An esteemed member of the Marlborough community, he was a member of Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church in Marlborough, the Ahepa and the Ahepa Scholarship Committee, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and the Marlborough Teachers Association. Funeral services were held Aug. 10 from Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough. The John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough directed arrangements.
