Behind the consistent play of Kareem Kalil, Tim McDonald and Mike Stasaitis, the team consisting of players who compete for Algonquin Regional High School during the academic year advanced to the championship game of the Auburn Summer League.

The team, which went by "Algonquin" during league play, lost to a team of players from Tantasqua Regional, many of whom were integral parts of the team that captured the Massachusetts Division 2 championship in March.

Kalil led the Algonquin effort in the final with 14 points, while McDonald and Stasaitis added eight each. Six of Stasaitis's points came via two shots he drained from beyond the threepoint arc.

Other members of the team included Kevin Brown, Joe DePalo, Tom Dumont, Ricky Fagan, Matt McNulty, John Moreno, Dan Solis and Mike Speranzella. Coaching the team was Alan McDonald, who was assisted by Rick Fagan.

"I'm proud of the way the kids played hard and never gave up," McDonald said. "It was a fun season."

Algonquin finished the summer season, 13-3.
