Alice K. Bowman, 85

Westborough - Alice K. (Knight) Bowman, 85, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 at the Beaumont at Westborough Nursing Home after a long period of failing health.

She leaves her husband of 64 years, Norman Bowman; her son, Gary Bowman and his wife, Dorice; her daughters, Norma Lee Baer and her husband, Roy, and Sharon Freeman and her husband, Maynard; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Born in West Boylston, the daughter of Donald and Helen (Kimball) Knight, she was a resident of Westborough for the past 64 years. She was educated in the West Boylston school system and graduated in 1940 from the former David Hale Fanning Trade School in Worcester.

Mrs. Bowman worked for many years in the women's sportswear department at Jordan Marsh in Framingham. Along with her husband, she also operated the former Bowman Dairy Farm in Westborough for 40 years. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Westborough.

She was an extremely talented water color painter and gave private art lessons at her home, as well as teaching lessons at the Westborough Senior Center. In her free time, she also enjoyed golfing and playing bridge with friends. For many years, she coordinated the volunteer program at the former Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester.

A memorial service was held Aug. 22 from the First United Methodist Church of Westborough. Memorial donations be made to the Memorial Fund at First United Methodist Church of Westborough, 120 West Main St., Westborough, MA 01581.
