Future Skills Institute manager thanks WMCT-TV On behalf of the Metro South West Regional Employment Board and the Future Skills Institute, I want to thank the local Marlborough cable and public access station WMCT TV for their wonderful partnership with our Summer Program in Marlborough. The participants of the summer program enjoyed great success with their video project because of the empathic involvement and mentorship of the entire staff at WMCTTV. The staff volunteered their time and expertise to work with our students, provided the necessary equipment needed and regularly welcomed them into their facility. The five week summer program consisted of 14 young adults ranging in age from 16 to18. The participants gained invaluable 21st century employability skills through their project based learning curriculum. The students created a video showcasing Marlborough's attractions as a complimentary marketing piece for local hotels. WMCT-TV producer Amy Devlin assisted in the development of the idea well before participants came into the program. Other staff who gave their time and expertise were Kelley McLaughlin (Access Supervisor), Rob O' Keefe (Program Director), Kristen Doucet (News Producer) and Dan Guindon (Executive Director). This outstanding "real world" environment provided by WMCT-TV sets the high standard for all other local employers to try to emulate. We encourage other companies to take the time to invest in our teenagers for they are our future workforce. Future Skills Institute, located on the 2nd floor of the MetroWest Boys and Girls Club at 169 Pleasant Street in Marlborough, provides young adults, ages 16-24 with communitybased career/education counseling services and job placement assistance.
