Central Mass. LAX program growing, tryouts set

Region - The Central Mass. Lacrosse program led by Joe Kacevich completed its first year with success, fielding a high school age girls team (21 players), and middle school girls team (25). Girls from 10 towns participated in the program.

Tryouts for the program are set for Sept. 9 and 16 at Southborough's 9/11 field. Kacevich said he is hoping to field two middle and two high school teams.

In the program's first year, teams made up of players from throughout Central Mass. competed in several high level tournaments in New England, New Jersey and New York.

Sept. 9 tryouts are set for 1 to 2:30 p.m. for high school players, 2:30 to 4 p.m. for middle school players (grades 7 and 8).

Sept. 16 tryouts are set with the middle school players going 1 to 2:30 p.m., and high school, 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Kacevich prides himself on the coaching staff , which includes Stephanie Ridolfi, Holy Cross's head coach. The program also integrates a strength and conditioning program designed for females.
