Public hearing to address community development grant
By Angela Greiner Contributing Writer

Hudson - Residents in town are invited to a public hearing Monday Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hudson Town Hall on Main Street. The hearing is to discuss the recent allocation of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), which was funded through the Department of Housing and Community Development.

The town is currently planning to target three projects with the grant funding. The first proposed spending is for the architectural plans to develop a new Senior Center. Once the architectural plans are finalized, the town can then apply for a construction grant to renovate and expand the center.

The other two agenda items proposed for funding are the Façade Improvement Project and the rehabilitation of the South Street parking area. The façade project, which began several years ago, provides funding to commercial buildings to improve the exterior of buildings in the town's approved target blight areas. The improvement of the parking area will enhance accessibility to downtown and to the recently completed skateboard and Splash Pad.

The meeting will also review the town's Community Development Strategy and list of priority projects. The hearing will also provide an opportunity for the discussion of future CDBG applications. The meeting is open to the public and all residents interested in making a comment will be given an opportunity.

To read the Community Development Strategy or for more information, visit the town Web site at www. townofhudson.org. The town also encourages written comments at any time to be submitted via e-mail or U.S. mail to the Town Hall.
