Meta Pessolano, 84

Southborough - Meta (Meister) Pessolano, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a short illness. She was the wife of William Pessolano, who died in 1987.

She leaves her children, Antoinette Padgett and her husband, Reginald, and Maria Eldredge and her husband, Steve; her grandchildren, Reginald Padgett Jr. and William Eldredge; her step-grandchildren, Tonya Comiska and Deidre Padgett; and her stepgreat grandchildren, Marcel, Tiana and Shade Comiska, and Davon Padgett.

Born in Poland, she was the daughter of Edward and Carrie Meister.

Mrs. Pessolano was a bookkeeper for attorney Joseph Hart of Marlborough for many years. She was also a lunch lady at Woodward School in Southborough and, most recently, a greeter at Wal-Mart in Westborough, where she handed out stickers to kids. She was an avid reader of the New York Times and enjoyed challenging herself with its crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Pessolano was always willing to help a stranger. Her greatest joy was visiting with her family and friends.

Funeral services were held Aug. 31 from St. Mark's Church in Southborough, with private burial. The Morris Funeral Home of Southborough directed arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Activities Fund at the Summit Program, 277 East Mountain St., Worcester, MA 01605.
