Garden Club announces scholarship recipients

Westborough - The Westborough Garden Club provides scholarships to deserving Westborough High School (WHS) graduates who are interested in garden-related activities. Heather Christie and Mark Ventriglia are this year's recipients.

In school, Christie was an active member of the WHS Environmental Club and helped to maintain the WHS gardens that are part of the Garden Club's Community Gardens. She will attend St. Michael's College in Vermont and is the daughter of Anne and Bob Hoover.

Ventriglia has been working for Terrascaping and Construction for four years and also has been a mason aid worker. He participated in the WHS marching band and school pep band, and played recreational basketball. He will attend Suff olk University, majoring in business. He is the son of Anna and Joe Ventriglia.

The Westborough Garden Club scholarship fund is derived from many sources including the annual plant sale, memberships, donations and the Holiday Floral Program. The scholarships are awarded based on scholastic record, character, initiative and interest. The selection of the scholarship winners is made by the club's Scholarship Committee.
