Charley Cherng, 6

Shrewsbury - Charley Cherng, 6, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007 at the Children's Hospital in Boston after a long illness.

He leaves his parents, Nehemiah Chenping Cherng and Deborah (Weng) Cherng; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hechuan Bai; his maternal grandparents, Jianren Weng and Hui Zhang; his godmother, Erin Le; his grand-godmother, Madeline Figueras; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ipin Cherng and Tzungya.

Born Oct. 16, 2000 in China, he was educated in Shrewsbury schools and would have entered the first grade. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Westborough and enjoyed drawing, crafts, karaoke, dancing and sports.

Graveside services were held Sept. 4 at the Mountain View Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 120 West Main St., Westborough. The Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home directed arrangements.
