Political blog launches in Shrewsbury Shrewsbury - Shrewsbury resident Mark Adler has been involved in local politics in recent years, and has started putting his opinions online for all to read. "ShrewsBuried," Adler's politically charged newsletter, officially launched Sept. 4. The current newsletter covers hot topics from commercial development to budget cuts to the 40B affordable housing selection process. The online blog, which can be found at www.shrewsburied.com, has nearly a dozen contributors including Judy Vedder and Chris Jutten, who are both active in the town's political landscape. It took a few months of planning and about six weeks of execution to get the newsletter up and running. Although the newsletter is politically based, Adler said, it was created to give a voice to the concerns of all Shrewsbury residents, and is intended to be far from one-sided. "The writers are broadly composed from all parts of the political spectrum and beyond," Adler said. "One of the selectmen, I won't reveal which one, said he or she wanted to have workshop this past summer to reconcile competing voices in the town after a divisive election season. That workshop hasn't happened and now I've brought together people who were on competing sides in the election." Adler said he is still actively pursuing contributors as well as advertisers for the privately-funded newsletter. ShrewsBuried's coverage will include Board of Selectmen and committee meetings, as well as town elections and political appointments. The overall goal of the newsletter is to get people interested and involved in town politics. "ShrewsBuried wants to engage readers in the issues that matter the most to the residents of Shrewsbury," he said. "Local issues aff ect our homes, our families and our pocketbooks more than state, national or world events." Anyone with questions or suggestions can contact Adler at info@shrewsburied.com. |
