Fay School plans improvements, expansion Southborough - The Fay School unveiled to the town's Planning Board earlier this month an improvement and expansion plan that will include new buildings and changes to traffic flow. School representatives presented the first phase of Fay's 20-year master plan, but the Planning Board said it wants to see the entire master plan before approving the site plan. Town Planner Vera Koilas said that as a private school, the Fay School does not have to get the same approvals as a residential or commercial developer, but does have to get Planning Board approval on areas that may affect issues such as public safety and drainage. The Fay School is a private school for students in grades one through nine, with boarding beginning in grade six. Head of School Stephen White said the school, located on Main Street, wants to replace old dorms, build a modern wellness center and a new wastewater treatment plant. White said the school also wants to change some internal roads to improve traffic flow and the drop-off and pick-up areas to alleviate backups that spill out onto Main Street. White also told the board that the school has purchased a house on Main Street near Parkerville Road and is negotiating to buy a second one. The Fay School will be back before the Planning Board at its Monday Oct. 15 meeting. |
