Students from schools in the "National Anthem Project" sang the national anthem at 9 a.m. Sept. 14, the day that Francis Scott Key penned the words to the anthem. At Lincoln Street School, music teacher Katrina Caron challenged all students and staff to learn the first verse of the Star-Spangled Banner before the end of this school year. Members of the school community will earn a star to put on the "Star Spangled Celebration" bulletin board when they complete the challenge by singing the verse for one other PHOTO/MARY PRITCHARD person. |
