Identity theft specialist speaks to seniors

Shrewsbury - Robert Currier, a certified identity theft risk management specialist, shares tips on how to avoid being a victim of identity theft with (l to r) Carmella Lacono and Ruth Merrill, both of Shrewsbury, Sept. 20 during a workshop at Shrewsbury Senior Center. Eight people participated in the workshop, during which Currier, from American Consumer Credit Counseling, explained ways thieves can acquire personal information and begin to "put little bits of information together like a jigsaw puzzle" to steal one's identity. One piece of advice was to shred anything with personal information on it, even simply a name and address, before discarding it.
