Collins to command Georgia Army hospital

Shrewsbury - Col. John P. Collins, son of Dr. John P. Collins of Shrewsbury, recently returned from his assignment as Chief of Staff , Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, to assume command of Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, Ga.

A 1982 magna cum laude graduate of Providence College, Collins was a Distinguished Military Graduate there. Col. Collins has earned four master's degrees and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. His military education includes the Army Medical Department Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff Officer's Course, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces where he was designated a Distinguished Graduate.

His awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (four oak leaf clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (one oak leaf cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf cluster), the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Order of Military Medical Merit Medallion.
