Adoption group to celebrate 40 years

Region - The Adoption Community of New England Inc. (ACONE) will hold a 40th Anniversary Gala Saturday Nov. 10 in at the Holiday Inn, 265 Lakeside Ave., Marlborough, from 7 p.m. to midnight.

The gala will honor Joan Clark for her 15 years of service as ACONE's first executive director.

There will be a silent auction, a multimedia presentation, dinner, dancing, entertainment and a keepsake Celebration Book.

Since ACONE's founding in 1967, it has grown from a small group of adoptive families to a membership of 1,700 families and agencies/organizations. The original goal of education and support for adoptive families has broadened to include all those touched by adoption, including those considering adoption or in the process of adoption, adoptive families, adoptees, birth families, foster parents, professionals working with those touched by adoption.
