Heisler & Mattson Properties
By Kate Daly Assistant Editor
Business name: Heisler & Mattson Properties Address: 12 Mt. Vickery, Southborough, and 415 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury Owner's name: Barbara J. Heisler Background: "I've been in real estate since 1985, 22 years, specializing in residential, single-family homes, condos and multi-families," Heisler said. "We started the company in 2001 and we merged with Vivian Mattson to create Heisler & Mattson Properties in 2004." What motivated you to start the business? "After being in the real estate business for 17 years with large companies and with the introduction of the Internet, I realized that in a smaller environment I could be more responsive to the clients' needs." Most common misconception customers have: "Most people think that the business is just about houses. In reality, the business is about the people. You can learn so much from your customers, which has been great experience." Latest interesting trends: "At this time it's a buyer's market, so it is very important if you are a seller that your property is market ready. When you are selling your home it is very difficult to detach yourself and view it from the buyers' eyes. With the advent of multiple photos and virtual tours it's important to showcase the home's best features. The adage that a picture is worth a thousand words has never been more true." Key to success: "The key to success is taking special care of that customer today because they are your future business." Community involvement: "We try to stay involved with the community with different venues. We are members of the Southborough and Shrewsbury Rotary clubs, Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce. These clubs allow us to take part in Community Reading Days, School Scholarship committees and recently the Heritage Day Road Race. We love to support the local sports teams, either by sponsorships or coaching. As an independent local office we have the flexibility to return to the community the support that they give us."
