Women's Business Council to host 'Holiday Boutique'
By Angela Greiner Contributing Writer

Marlborough - The Women's Business Council of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce is providing an opportunity for area residents to get a head start on holiday shopping at the second annual Holiday Shopping Boutique.

The event will run Tuesday Nov. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Marriott Residence Inn, 112 Donald Lynch Boulevard.

There will be between 10 and 15 vendors at the boutique, said Cathy Mogavero, executive vice president of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce. Hors d'oeuvres and light refreshments will also be served, compliments of the Marriott. ! e shopping venue features a large variety of products including skincare products, makeup, jewelry, kitchenware and more.

"! e event was fun last year," Mogavero said.

She expects a wide variety of booths with plenty of merchandise available for purchase. Some of the businesses already confirmed are Arbone International, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Custom Jewelry by Sherrone, Avon, Not Your Average Basket and Pampered Chef.

"It is a great way for some small vendors that are geared toward boutique shopping to gather in one place," Mogavero said.

According to Mogavero, vendors register right up until the last minute, and both Chamber of Commerce members and non-members are welcome.

! e Holiday Shopping Boutique is one of many events sponsored year-round by the chamber.

"I think it is great to provide a venue like the boutique," Mogavero said.

The Women's Business Council, which is organizing the event, is one of the committees of the Chamber of Commerce and is a group of women "with a great camaraderie," Mogavero said.

! e group meets the second Friday of every month for lively discussions and motivational guest speakers. According to Mogavero, the monthly luncheons are an opportunity for women who often work in small in-home businesses to network with other women.

While last year's event was held in the conference room at the Chamber of Commerce, this year's event at the Marriott will allow the vendors more room to display products.

"! is year, the event will be held at the Marriott, after they graciously off ered to host the event," Mogavero said.

For community members with businesses interested in retailing at the upcoming event, there are still tables available; the fee for nonmembers is $50 and $35 for members. For more information about the boutique or to book a table, call Cathy Mogavero or Penny Tiernan at the chamber office at 508- 485-7746.
