Police chief visits with seniors about safety

Shrewsbury - Police Chief James Hester Jr. shares conversation with Shrewsbury residents Frank Dirksmeier (left) and Jim Erwin Oct. 16 after his presentation at the Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center meeting. Hester spoke about the continuous efforts of the Shrewsbury Police Department to address public safety issues through education and communication with residents. Issues included safety on Lake Quinsigamond during peak times of recreational use of the water; school resource ofÞ cers being visible, accessible to and directly involved with students; and trafÞ c and neighborhood safety.
Seniors also heard that if they haven't already, they
can expect to see police around town on bicycles as well as motorcycles. The
town is also expecting a new police dog in the coming weeks. Hester took time to
answer questions and visit with seniors after his presentation.
