Kristina Allen to receive Good Scout Award
By Mary Shane Contributing Writer

Kristina Allen
Westborough - Who do you find when you need a volunteer? A good scout - someone with integrity and concern for others.

In Westborough, you find Kristina Allen.

A lifetime Girl Scout, Allen will receive the Knox Trail Council's Good Scout Award Wednesday Nov. 14.

The award goes to people who have demonstrated integrity and genuine concern for others in their professional and personal lives, said Bob Wyman of the council.

And like a good scout, Allen is modest.

"I really don't know why I'm receiving the award," she said. "I'm very honored to be considered."

Allen joined Girl Scouts as a Brownie, became a Girl Scout, a Senior Scout and then a leader.

"I am involved in Westborough Girl Scouts as a Girl Scout badge consultant and nature hike leader through the Westborough Community Land Trust," she said.

Allen has received the Montachusett Girl Scout Council's awards of World of Yesterday and Today (2002), Woman of Distinction (1999), and Neighb o rhood Recognition Award (1985). She is a nature history guide at Broad Meadow Brook Audubon Sanctuary, Worcester. Active in the Westborough Historical Society, Allen wrote a town history, "On the Beaten Path."

The fund-raising Good Scout dinner for the Knox Trail Council of the BSA supports local scouting programs.

The dinner will be Wednesday Nov. 14 at Indian Meadows Country Club at 6 p.m. For more information call the Knox Trail Council at 508-872-6551 or visit the Web site www.ktcbsa. org.
