Area towns pay tribute to local veterans

Shrewsbury - (third from top): Veterans Walter Kalczynski and Ron Pelletier participate in a "Flag Retirement" ceremony at the Ray Stone Post Nov. 11 as part of the Veterans Day activities. During the ceremony, damaged and worn flags were burned to respectfully dispose of them after their useful service is over.

Flags that are no longer suitable for use may be dropped off at the Shrewsbury Senior Center where they are held until the Flag Retirement ceremony each Veterans Day.
