Stephen P. Griffey, 53

Southborough - Stephen P. Griffey, M.D., 53, formerly of Natick, died at his home Thursday Nov. 8, 2007 following a long illness.

He leaves his wife, Katharine (Glynn) Griffey, M.D.; his father, Dr. Louis Griffey; his sons, Thomas Griffey and Christopher Griffey; his siblings, Susan Griffey, Karen Griffey and her husband, Kevin Iles, Robin Griffey, Elizabeth Griffey, Sara Griffey and David Griffey; and nieces and nephews.

Born in Killeen, Texas, the son of Dr. Louis Griffey and the late Gladys (Gschwind) Griffey, he was raised in Natick and had been a resident of Southborough for the past 20 years. He was a 1972 graduate of Natick High School and went on to Brown University, graduating in 1976, and Georgetown Medical School, graduating in 1987.

Dr. Griffey was a surgeon at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester, where he completed his residency, and was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

A funeral mass was held Nov. 13 from St. Matthew's Church in Southborough, with burial at Rural Cemetery in Southborough. The John Everett & Sons Funeral of Natick directed arrangements.
