James C. Drummey, 76 Marlborough - James C. Drummey, 76, died at home Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He leaves his children and their spouses, James Drummey, Richard Drummey, Maureen and Brian Bane, David and Darci Drummey, and Colleen and Peter MacInnis. He also leaves his siblings and their spouses, Mary Pat and Richard Durand, Margaret and John O'Connell, and Paul and Loretta Drummey; his sisters-in-law, Patricia Drummey and Kay Drummey; his former wife, Joan (White) Behan; and nieces and nephews. Born in Marlborough, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Callahan) Drummey, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a 1950 graduate of Marlborough High School, where he was an accomplished athlete, especially in football, and also graduated from Boston University and the New England College of Pharmacy. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was stationed in Japan and reached the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Drummey retired from Raytheon as a supervisor after several years. He also worked in the Marlborough school system and taught at the middle school. Previously, he had a lengthy career in the insurance industry with Metropolitan Life and the D. Francis Murphy Insurance Agency in Marlborough. Early in his career, he worked as a radiology specialist in several Massachusetts hospitals. A member of the Immaculate Conception Church, he an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time with his brother, Paul, at the Twin Springs Country Club in Bolton. He enjoyed traveling and spending time in the summer at York, Maine and in Florida. Most of all, he liked being with his family and friends. Throughout his life, he shared with his family and friends a spirit of fun and laughter that will always be appreciated. Funeral services were held Nov. 13 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial at the V.A. National Cemetery in Bourne.
