Personalized service for wireless phone customers

Region - The AT&T Phone Stores in Westborough and Shrewsbury are wirelessphone stores that not only provide exemplary customer service but also carry the largest selection of accessories in the area. The stores sell phone service to new customers, upgrade customers' existing phones and service, and, because there are on-site technicians, provide repairs as well.

Both stores are owned and managed by Thomas Shamgochian.

"AT&T is the largest phone carrier in the United States," Shamgochian said. "AT&T is the new name for Cingular, which is confusing for a lot of people. It's still the exact same company."

One of the many things that make Shamgochian's stores unique is that personal attention is given to all those who walk through the doors. Employees have been there for several years and know the answers to nearly every customer's questions.

"We believe the most important part of this business is the service that we provide," Shamgochian said. "It's not the service you get when you pick up the phone, but the service you get when you have a problem or need help. That's what has made us so successful … I want to see them [customers] when there is a question, problem, or even for bill analysis to make sure they are on the right plan and there's nothing better out there for them."

There are box stores that carry phones and service, but few off er the personal touch that these stores provide.

"We encourage our customers to come in once every three months for a check up … We're like a doctor. In my eyes, if you keep your customers happy, they will come back time and time again," Shamgochian said. "We also get a lot of referrals this way. We also treat our customers the way we would want to be treated. We even provide a loaner phone when theirs break."

Another unique thing about the Westborough and Shrewsbury AT&T Phone Stores is that some employees are multilingual, and can speak Spanish or Portuguese.

"There's a lot of selection out there today for wireless phones," Shamgochian said. "We carry a huge selection. I never want to tell you that you can't buy what you want because we don't have it. We have data devices in stock and ready to demo. To me, it's important for people to be able to come in, see the product and also touch it and try it."
