Gibbons Middle School exceeds fund-raising goal
At the start of the fund-raiser, Assistant Principal Chris Fournier told the students he would sing on the announcements or let the top sellers throw pies at him if they exceeded the goal. The students picked the pie option. On Oct. 19, Fournier allowed teams of four to throw pie shells filled with whip cream at him. The second lunch was led by the last day's top seller for eighth grade, Will Ashton, and third lunch the last day's top seller for seventh grade, Lexi Angellis. During the fund-raiser, 59 percent of the school's study body participated. Seventh grade sold more than $20,000 in orders and eighth grade sold more than $15,000 in orders. Overall top sellers were Carolyn Graham (eighth grade) with $524, Angellis (seventh grade) with $518, Jake Murphy (eighth grade) with $502, and Ryan Hadley (seventh grade) with $477. Those students picked from four prizes: $40 cash, CD/MP3/Radio Boom Box, Micro System with CD/Radio, and an MP3 player. Top-selling homerooms each received five pounds in chocolate bars to share, and they also got to keep the traveling mascot. |
