Middle school students collect food for needy
By Mary Pritchard Contributing Writer
Shrewsbury - Oak Middle School's Student Voice group recently held a Thanksgiving Food Drive for five days at the school and generated more than 287 bags of non-perishable foods to be donated to St Anne's Parish and Rosie's Place.

To encourage donations, a competition between seventh and eighth grade meant that one of the assistant principals would wear a turkey suit if their grade brought in less food than the other grade.

The donations were so impressive that both Principal Dr. Joseph Sawyer and Assistant Principal Chris Starszewski each took a turn wearing the turkey suit at school the day the bags were assembled.

Teacher advisers to the 53 students who make up the Student Voice are Carey Davis and Jason Ponticelli.
