Church to hold Blue Christmas Service

Westborough - For many people, Christmas can be a lonely and often depressing time, a "blue" time because of heartache, pain or frustration. Some have experienced a loss - a loss of health, of a loved one, of a job, of a dream. Some may be "blue" because it stirs up other feelings - memories of what once was or thoughts of how we wish it would have been.

During the "Blue Christmas Service," these feelings are acknowledged and comfort and hope are offered through scripture, song, prayer and the lighting of candles.

First United Methodist Church, 140 West Main St. in Westborough, will hold its annual Blue Christmas Service for the community Sunday Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
