Town manager praised for job well done
By Melissa Muntz Community Reporter

Shrewsbury - Town Manager Daniel Morgado recently received a glowing review from the selectmen, who said Morgado's performance over the past several years shows little room for improvement.

The Board of Selectmen reviewed Morgado's evaluation at its Dec. 17 meeting. The selectmen agreed that it's growing more and more difficult to evaluate the manager because they're running out of categories to put him in.

"A superior and excellent performance has really become the norm," Chair Maurice DePalo said. "You set a high bench for not only for a future manager, but you've also set a high standard for yourself that you've been able to live up to over the years."

Selectmen Bruce Card commended Morgado for his ability to take on more and more responsibilities while maintaining the same performance level.

"In his time here, his work has doubled and he's done a good job of taking the ball and running with it," Card said. "I think you've done a marvelous job for the town and we hope to see you here for many years to come."

The board commended Morgado for his wise and honest counsel over the past year, as well as the leadership he has shown in his position. DePalo said his eff ect on department heads and town staff can be seen at all levels.

"During my time on the board, I've seen a lot of people grow in their positions and I think that's a testament to your management abilities and support of your staff," DePalo said.

Morgado has been the Town Manager in Shrewsbury for 10 years. Following his evaluation, he said he couldn't take all of the credit for the accomplishments he's had.

"Any success I've enjoyed is a result of the work of the town employees, department heads … and volunteers," he said. "I look forward to another year working for the town with the board's support, guidance and prodding, at times, that's greatly appreciated."
