Marlborough - On Dec. 1, the off ice of State Sen. Pamela P. Resor, D-Acton, hosted a collection drive at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School for U.S. troops serving in the Middle East. The event, which was co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. James P. McGovern, D; State Rep. Patricia A. Walrath, D-Stow; and State Rep. Stephen P. LeDuc, DMarlborough, was part of Resor's annual holiday commitment to support the troops

"I do not support the war," Resor said, "but I do support the troops."

Community members, local politicians and students collected donations, including deodorant, books, puzzles, phone cars, cameras, packaged food and toiletries to make gift packages for the men and women overseas.

Starbuck's employee Linda Turner opted to support the event by providing both coff ee and her volunteer time.

"There are American boys and girls that have needs … and these needs are going on whether you support the war or not," Turner said.

For a full list of items to donate, call Resor's office at 508-786-3040. Items can be dropped by her office at 255 Main St., Room 106.
