Solomon G. Francis, 85 Marlborough - Solomon G. Francis, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at UMass Memorial Healthcare - Marlborough Hospital after an illness. He leaves his brother, George Francis Jr.; his sisters, Selma Macricosta and Evelyn Gaudette; and nieces and nephews. Born in Boston, the son of George and Rose (Joseph) Francis, he was a lifelong resident of Marlborough. He graduated from Marlborough High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific theater of the war. Mr. Francis was employed by the city of Marlborough in the Public Works department for over 10 years, retiring in the 1980s. He enjoyed gardening and was an exceptional handyman and "jack of all trades." He also enjoyed summering with the entire family at Old Orchard Beach in Maine, as well as having his morning coffee "with the boys" at Dunkin' Donuts on Main Street in Marlborough. Funeral services was held Dec. 11 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home in Marlborough, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
