Donald H. Macomber, 80

Marlborough - Donald Hiltz Macomber, 80, formerly of Ashland, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at Bolton Manor Nursing Home in Marlborough.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Shirlee (Cotter) Macomber, and his children, Deborah King and her husband, Timothy; Calvin Macomber and his wife, Marlaine; Alice Cohen and her husband, Ron; Melene Campbell and her husband, Lenny; and Donelda Turner and her husband, Marty. He also leaves his sister, Carrie Kitchen Turo; his grandchildren, Larry King, Nancy Lemoine, Jennifer King, Caroline Macomber, Sabrina Macomber, Kendra Macomber, Adam Cohen, Bradley Cohen, Brett Campbell, Carrie Campbell and Lexi Campbell; and seven great-grandchildren.

Born in Maitland, Nova Scotia, the son of Calvin and Mildred (Hiltz) Macomber, he was a Canadian citizen until immigrating to the United States in 1964. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II on the merchant ship, Empress, and was a resident of Ashland for 33 years.

Mr. Macomber was employed with Ingersoll Rand in Walpole for 18 years. He was a member of the Jack the Barber AA Group in Hopkinton, enjoyed square dancing with Fairs & Squares, and was a parishioner at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Hopkinton.

A memorial service was held Dec. 15 from St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Matarese Funeral Home of Ashland directed arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 61 Wood St., Hopkinton, MA 01748.
